Very sweet. Nice hoppiness. Overall decent but not great.

Haven't had barley wine before so I don't know if it's a good representation of the style. Has the biscuity maybe grapefruit citrusy aroma I would expect from an IPA. The flavor isn't as hoppy as the aroma would have you think. Moderately heavy body with a thick sweetness to it. Too sweet I think, but it's masking the 12% alcohol very well. Very light carbonation contributes to the heaviness. There is a good amount of hop flavor but it can't compete with the heavy malt flavor. You get a small grapefruit hit on the aftertaste. I normally hate hoppy beers so I'm surprised to say that this needs more hops to balance it out. I don't know if this comes in smaller sizes but I wouldn't buy a 750ml unless you have 3-4 friends available to help you get it down.

A little bit sweet, dense, barley beer, mild orange peel,
