B. Had the 2015 in 1-27-18, so spices were very muted,

A spicy stout?

Christmas ale 2015- sweet nose, decent tasting dark ale. Subtle spice ( nutmeg) in the background

Seems similar to past years, though in theory they never repeat. Decent but nothing great.

Anchor Merry Christmas happy new year 2015
2.5/5 stars
A special beer from Anchor they change it up so it is a different recipe every year.
Dark chestnut to mahogany in color with a quickly dissipating khaki head. Strong star anise, black molasses, and tobacco aromas with some subtle leather notes.
Not bad, but not as tasty as previous years. Has a light mouthfeel with a bitter note like black molasses followed by an odd burnt aftertaste. Spicy ginger notes are very drying. Not nearly as flavorful or 'Christmassy' as years past. Kind of muted.

Tasted on the malty side to me - dark color hint of red

Different recipe every year, and it never fails to disappoint. Some clove and did flavor. This is the best Christmas beer!
