06MAR14, New Albanian Pizzeria and Public House, New Albany, IN Draft, half-pint 2012 version. Pours a clear dark caramel color with minimal off white head. Has a sweet and malty aroma. A tiny hint of molasses, but it's a good blend. Flavor is initially sweet, with some body coming in and some tang on the finish. It's quite interesting, but a little difficult to place after the spicy beer cheese. It's a little less boozy than the North Coast Old Stock, and the caramel/molasses is a little better blended with some sharp booziness/bitterness. The bitterness is really light, and the slightly wet finish lets the sweetness and booziness have one last light-footed dance before the next sip. It's whole, complete, and a little bit sweetly grainy. Which makes it quite satisfying.

Intense malt flavor and good amount of aroma. Great beer but lacks a bit if complexity. Maybe should age for a couple years.

Similar to bacon breakfast in taste. Would work well as a Bloody Mary chaser. However, no tolerable at 12 oz.

Tastes more like a barley wine than a typical scotch ale. Maybe it needs a new category called Imperial Scotch Ale.

Great oak carmel nose. Full body with oak and malt flavors coming through and a touch of carmel. Great beer!!

Scotch ale, sorta tastes like a choc stout, hint of apple cinnamon. Described as smelling like caramel apple w a hint of cinnamon and tastes like smokey choc chip cookie.
