Pitch black with thick tan head, slowly dissipates and coats the glass with lace. Aroma is coffee, a bit of smoke, dark chocolate. The flavor is strong coffee with burnt notes and bitter dark chocolate. The finish has a mild bitterness and booziness. Mouthfeel is soft, smooth but not creamy. Overall a very good coffee stout, strong, not sweet. Bottle, August 2015.

Just okay.. Certainly not top 100 material... Could name about 20 or more imperial stouts that are better than this.. Extremely boozy and has a strong bite to finish, and not from coffee or espresso. It's a borderline hop taste ..not getting much chocolate flavor.... Overrated...it's a crime that this beer is rated higher than alesmith speedway stout, Averys Mephistopheles stout,or Epic's Big Bad Baptist on the top 100 list.

Actively seek. One of the best coffee stouts ever. I don't have fancy words do this one, prized balance, coffee, chocolate, splooge

Excellent coffee stout. Great coffee aroma. Coffee meshes well with the bitterness of the stout. At 9.5%, the beer does not feel heavy.

Decent imperial stout, but not spectacular.

This is an outstanding beer and worth a revisit when available. Coffee hints are just right. Nice finish. Highly recommend.
