What "Shock Top" wishes it was. Very "spicy" hint of orange peel flavor.

This beer tastes very different than the previous two. It pours a translucent golden-yellow hue, producing approximately three fingers of fluffy, white-colored foam at the surface. Retention is quite good; the head sticks around dissipating quite slowly. A lumpy cap roughly one finger high survives, in addition to gobs of foamy, delicate lace. I got a slight whiff of sulphury skunk on the nose, but it weakens as the beer has time to breathe, revealing notes of grainy, doughy malt sweetness, grassy hay and various hints of fruit, including apple, overripe pear, apricot and some vinous white grape. Minor suggestions of banana, coriander and clove. Lovely stuff, and highly refreshing. The malt backbone is grainy and lightly doughy, providing a mostly-neutral backdrop for the flavors of citrus and orchard fruits. The wheat base is apparent and is almost yeasty bread meets lemongrass until the flavors of apple and pear, with lesser hints of grape, banana hit. There's plenty more of the Belgian yeast character towards the finish with a mild hop bitterness. Somewhat aggressive carbonation rigorously agitates the palate, resulting in a crisp, prickly mouthfeel that slowly softens. Beautifully balanced,it is a great introduction to the farmhouse style.
