Very much like a good brandy

Had the 2012 release. The nose is strong with a bit of burn to it. Lots of maple and bourbon (?) upfront, but gradually releases more cherry and grape notes. The mouthfeel is syrupy and coats the tongue. Rich, complex flavours with some phenol afterburn (not as intense as whiskey). I think the strongest flavour to me was maple syrup, but the port and cognac definitely come through with some tartness to this beer. Glad I tried it, but won't pay that much for a 1oz glass again.

2007 vintage. Like a well aged cognac. Caramel. Warmth. Beautiful.

Can taste the maple syrup. Tastes like a spirit - strong alcohol heat. 10/1/11
