Sweet, high alcohol start. Bitter finish.

One of the first barley wines that I've enjoyed. Alcohol forward, but not overly sweet.

2012 good malty taste. Doesn't compare to heavy seas bourbon barrel.

Big, thick yet smooth, just enough hops on the back end to keep it balanced, lots of malty and juicy backbone, alcohol but not too much. Maybe the best barley wine I've had (due to its subdued nature). Excellent

Deep red with copper and amber hues. Thick head, cream colored. Lingers ten sticks to the glass. Beautiful pour. I get alcohol in the nose initially, then some sweetness maybe from the malt, then piney and fruity hops. Complex. Taste of oak initially. Hops follow soon after. I think resinous is the word. Hops balanced by some malt sweetness. Maybe some roasted malts in there, bittersweet caramel. Complex malt bill. Warm alcohol finish that lingers. More bitter finish than i would like though. Definite sipper. Super chewy and thick mouthfeel, yet smooth. Oh my Bigfoot. Hits the spot on a winter's evening. Does not get five stars only because I need to drink more barley wine before I give a five.

I was only one in group that liked it. Very hoppy.

Needs some time to grow, had a two year old that was incredible

Quite peppery, well hopped. Finish is less on the bitter side of hops and more on the almost spicy, black pepper side. Tastes surprisingly similar to an IPA. Delicious. Definitely buying more.

2012 just a tad more bitter than 2011, but still savory and perfectly sour.
