Maybe had a bad bottle, but there was a distinct off flavor. Smells like a bourbon barrel ale, tastes like an unroasted bitter cocoa bean

Chocolate with obvious heavy black patent use. All in all a well surprisingly well balanced for its level of alcohol.

Rich, dark ale. Overtones of chocolate without being overwhelming. The 2013 batch is very nice.
