Smooth, slightly boozy...oak comes through a lot from the barrel aging

Just about better than the original Gonzo.. Almost prefer this whiskey barrel aged version because the whiskey booziness masks the subtle hop bite.. This version is slightly higher in the abv department but still provides that rich and dark malt and smokiness ... Hats off to this brew... Raise a glass to HST.. Cheers!!... 4.5 stars

2015 version, smoothness added from the bourbon barrels to an already strong, roasted porter...nice beer

What porter should be

Smooth. Full-bodied with a strong finish. Great beer.

Very warm, subtle, and tasty. Slight fruity/raisin notes near the end, but supremely a great coffee and alcohol tasting porter.

Bottle: Excellent porter. Great bourbon-oak smell and taste. Pretty flavorful for a porter. Sweet and malty, not bitter. Note: Bottle just says "Barrel-aged Gonzo Imperial Porter," not Wild Dog, and it is a normal 12 oz bottle unlike the picture. Remainder of description identical.

Very full bodied porter with a nice caramel character and just the right amount of hops. Subtle hint of bourbon oak.

Heavy on whiskey barrel taste. Some fruit but not much rich chocolate imperial porter taste 9/16/11.
