Not a sake ale but a strong ale matured in oak casks that had aged sake. The beer is 1 part (Belgian) strong ale, 2 parts sour. It has a nice dark cider like hue. Good carbonation. But lets go back, yes, I said two parts sour. Not as tart and grapefruit juice like as a straight up sour, and therefore not as terrible. Yet I still place this in the sour category. Which makes it straight away not worth future attention. But probably the most tolerable sour I have had, which is extremely faint praise; I did say it tasted like 1 part strong ale. So some evidence of a beer here, which is intended as an underhanded compliment.

Wow. Neat Belgian Style. Sake ending really neat. Try this one.

Pretty nice rendition of a strong ale. Pours dark Amber with no head. Light scents of plum, oak and sake. Tastes of oak and plum. The sake makes it dry and you can feel the alcohol on your tongue.

Middle of the road between a sake and a beer. Good amalgamation between the two. High alcohol. Low hop aroma. Clean mouthfeel. Beautiful color.

Light for a strong ale. The 8% ABV is deceptive as it tastes more like a typical Japanese lager. Not much after taste. Very light hop aroma.

Delicious! The aging in sake casks adds sweetness to offset the bitterness of the hops and creates a very smooth sting ale.

A great Belgian style strong ale, has slight hints of shochu/sake finish as it has been aged in sake barrels , definitely worth a try.

An 'orphan' beer, unlike all others. The sake casks add a unique sweetness from its liquor. It pours rust amber, and has a very nice hop note. To pour I recommend slowly adding 7/8ths with no head, give the 1/8th bottle a stir to lift the settlement, then create the head with the remaining 1/8th.
