Terrible. Like stale Guinness mixed with bad gin

More mellow for the stouts. It seems to have more hops than the normal too. Update at Brewery on nitro, Jan 2015: worth a four and a half.

Wow! Great bittersweet dark beer! Good rich flavor with a wonderful aftertaste. A good find!

Nitrous, roasted, coffee shop sent. Dark, dark chocolate color. Little head out of the bottle, poured. Good mellow octane hoops, not sweet, slight cafe flavor. Good!

At first it is like drinking old black coffee that's been in the refrigerator about 3 days. Let it warm a little then it's the same but warmer...

Deschutes Brewing, Bend, OR Black appearance. Mild coffee & chocolate flavors. Smooth with a very nice mix of well blended flavors but a bit of lingering bitterness of hops.

Strong roasted barely smell with evidence of coffee. Taste is smooth throughout including carbonation, bitterness and maltyness. The roasted malt is a little unbalanced without much hop presence, and the finish leaves you sort of unsatisfied of the simplicity of this beer. Aside from that I you really like a well executed roasted barley beer this is a good choice. I prefer any of the San Diego stouts any day though.
