bugs318 - February 7, 2012A bit odd nose and flavour wise for a dubbel. Beautiful ruby red with a great creamy, thoroughly lacing head, but excessive yeasty aromas alongside a faint smokiness with only slight malty fruitiness masked by the sweatiness is disappointing. Tastewise it is similar, good but my great. More like Maudite than a Trappist Dubbel andybe that threw off my expectations.
bugs318 - February 7, 2012A bit odd on the nose. Not your standard dubbel aromas. More like Maudite with a sweaty/yeastiness alongside malty fruit. There is a slight smokiness to nose and flavour. Flavor is much like the nose: that is smoky-sweet, but not great. Not really a dubbel and that threw my expectations for a loop.
