16JUL14, Against the Graib Brewery, Louisville, KY Draft, mug Pours a clear, but very dark and rich coffee brown color, with a 1/4" light tan head that quickly dissipates to a moderate ring. Has a yeasty, bready aroma, and there's a bit of booziness that I feel like is evident. The flavor is up-front with the twang of the booze, though it's only 6.5%. Then there's a chewiness to the beer that is actually quite refreshing. It's got some toasted malt, and it's pretty heavy on the mouthfeel, though the finish is quite dry. It's labeled a lactose scotch ale, so some of the velvetyness comes from the lactose. This is a really nice beer and I would definitely order this again. Has some molasses notes that intertwined complexly with the booze twang. Very interesting.
