Smell isn't as inviting as the taste- aroma of booze, grains, and apple. The taste grew on me the more I drank it: apples, booze, and the peppery taste of ancho chiles comes through at the resolve. Even slight heat at back of the throat! Another winner from DH.

Smell slightly citrusy but not extremely inviting. Tastes much better than the smell. Very smooth, slightly citrus flavor with a little bit of a spicy aftertaste.

Too sweet. Not enough chiles.

Nice color. Nose is sweet and floral. Honey with a little cocoa at taste. Don't get much chili. Honey and chocolate are prominent. The high ABV is also prominent. Nice and Interesting overall

Could definitely smell the chocolate. Never really got the chili. Pretty tasty.

At first taste, this beer tasted like any other malt-heavy beer. It wasn't until a few more sips that the complexity of flavors started to bloom. Golden color like honey (appropriate since honey is one of the ingredients) and the taste was initially honey-forward. Little carbonation and nice foamy head. Then the ancho chili kicks in. Very subtle as part of the finish, but became a greater participant the further into the bottle I got. Nice bit of heat. Finally, a soft touch of cocoa adds yet another layer of taste complexity. Like the chili, subtle but more apparent on the back end. High ABV at about 9% but unnoticeable on the palette. I like that. This is definitely a beer to put on the Favorites list.

On Randall with cocoa nibs, cinnamon sticks, and chipotle peppers

Interesting flavor. I have to give Dogfishhead props for they're innovation. CHocolate flavor overwhelms any hop or maltiness; when diminishes there is a heat in the back of the throat, but not that great of one (reminiscent of heartburn). It's very odd. I can't say I hate it
