In honor of the death of Christopher Hitchens yesterday I drink a Mephistopheles. -Because Mephistopheles was a shape shifter, the second fallen angel. Amazingly complex, coal black, velvety and liqueurish, this demon has a bouquet of vine-ripened grapes, anise and chocolate covered cherries with flavors of rum-soaked caramelized dark fruits and a double espresso finish. Mephistopheles is the final installment of "The Demons of Ale" series.

WOW! Complex doesn't even begin to describe this. Rich, thick and sweet. Seemed to get sweeter as it went. Awesome. Use cautiously.

Fantastic. It starts out with a nice, mellow smoky aroma. On the taste you get a very nice hop note to go with the bold malt taste. The aftertaste is smokey and hoppy with a hint of sweetness. This is as good as it gets.

Fantastic. Nice, mellow smoky aroma. That is followed by a bold malt taste. The aftertaste is part hops, sugars and malt. Epic beer.

Not a beer for rookies, just check that ABV! Almost like a hard liquor, or dogfish head world wide stout... Although a bit better in my book
